Dennis Muizers Lovejoy

Technology

Dennis Muizers has invested his entire career into the American education system.

Dennis Muizers is a skilled leader in education who – after spending nearly two decades working as Deputy Superintendent at Lovejoy ISD, has transitioned into a career in advancing education and helping pave the way for how technology will continue to influence the way we learn. Since 2023, he has been working as the Vide President of Literacy and Leadership Services at Footsteps2Brilliance in Washington, D.C.

In his work, Dennis is part of providing next-generation digital education tools that help connect school learning with home learning as education continues to grow and evolve. In his role as Vice President, Dennis helps develop and support partnerships between schools and their districts that help completely change the approach to literacy for children from birth through when they enter elementary school. He works with schools and districts across Arizona, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Texas, and Colorado.

Before joining Footsteps2Brilliance, Dennis Muizers spent a year with the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development as the National Managing Director for Leadership Programs and Member Services. In his role here, he developed new and supported existing leadership programs for educators. He helped grow and augment opportunities for mentorship to help appeal to educators at all stages of their careers. He also created a national leadership program to help grow and develop leadership capabilities and skills within mid-career educators.

Throughout his own educational career, Dennis Muizers has never stopped learning. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Texas, El Paso, followed by his Master’s in Educational Administration from the same institution. Additionally, in 2010, he earned his Texas Superintendent Certification. After years spent working for local school districts, he is currently working on his Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction through New Mexico State University, which he plans to complete in 2023.

Fresh out of his bachelor program, Dennis Muizers first worked for Ysleta Independent School District as a high school teacher, tennis coach, and eventually a curriculum, instruction, and assessment specialist. Having found his niche working in school administration, Dennis’ next career step took him to Anthony Independent School District, a small, low-income district where he spent three years as a high school principal. In 2000, he had the opportunity to move to McKinney Independent School District as their Senior Director of Curriculum and Instruction, where he led a content specialist team that implemented curriculum updates and professional development initiatives.

Dennis Muizers’ longest tenure, however, was over fifteen years as Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment for Lovejoy Independent School District. As one of the highest-performing school districts in Texas, Dennis worked hard to ensure students and teachers had access to the necessary resources to uphold that reputation. He spent time developing and implementing special programs for students needing extra instruction, helped support campus leaders, and provided strategic planning for the district as a whole. Under his leadership, Lovejoy’s school district earned multiple distinctions and high rankings both within the state and nationally.

With thirty years of professional experience in education, Dennis Muizers has seen many trends, methodologies, and developments in the public education system. He has become particularly interested in education technology and how it can help improve classroom experiences. Dennis has seen first-hand how technology can positively impact both learning and teaching in K-12 schools by creating more engaging experiences for students and lightening the load on teachers. He strives to stay up-to-date on the latest developments and how they impact current educational leaders.
